Good morning, sunshine! My day starts when our tiny grimlins, AKA my sweet kiddos, wake me up between 5:30 and 6 in the morning. It’s early, and I feel like a zombie, but that's okay... I guess lol We're all in this together. First things first, pre-breakfast snacks for everyone and making sure all the little ones, including our little Vizsla puppy, Birdie, go potty.
Then, it's off to preschool drop-off at 7:30 am. Gotta catch that bus by 7:50 or King will be left behind an my 20 minute trip turns into 45! If it's not a school day, it's breakfast time at home with my little Lenny, Kingaroo and Birdie by my side. Kyle even joins us most of the time as he works from home and the time works well with his work schedule. Me and the kids and Birdie snuggle during morning cartoons, and it's the best part of the day.
Crafts, sewing, and baking fill our mid-morning. Sometimes, I try to distract the little ones, so I can get some work done. Lunchtime is casual—crackers, a turkey sandwich, yogurt, or maybe nothing at all if I'm out and about. This becomes a real problem for me as I'm herding the kids keeping my mind busy with errands all while trying to keep my shopping lusts at bay resulting in me not eating the whole day, literally starving by days end... anyone relate? Moms...? LOL
More playtime follows as the sun and temperatures rise, especially outside. Even in the winter, if the sun's out, we brave the cold (with a jacket or blanket, as my husband suggests). But honestly, I still hate it, and that's perfectly fine, right.. right? Kids love it, especially when it is snowing so they can go sledding down our hilly driveway before Kyle plows it. It's a winter wonderland for sure and summer of bliss up here. Such a beautiful and wonderful place to raise a family!
It is to be noted, like most momma's of small children and a full-grown mountain man of a husband, I have mountains of laundry to do almost daily. I run at least a load a day, if not multiple. This is probably the biggest tasks that literally never ends and is so difficult due to our little puppy always needing eyes on and attention and my two little precious demons always wanting to help (or, from my perspective, destroy... ;) ) with anything and everything I am doing. Laundry is a big part of my day-to-day and it is spread across and squeezed into any spare time I have throughout the day.
I also aim to get in a workout somewhere in the day, usually in the mid morning between 9-11am. Kyle is usually really good at finding his openings in his mornings and asking me if I want to workout during such and such time. It's like having my very own, completely free accountability coach and reminder. Helps out a bunch that we have a garage gym that, although not quite fully finished, pretty much everything I need and I love it. Having a husband who is obsessive about fitness and the gym is great because everywhere we move to or live we have practically had a full gym somewhere at our house.
Dinner prep begins with my little helpers, King and Lennox, in their handmade aprons or "capes" as they like to call them.
After dinner, it's an online school/learning workshop with King taking over my laptop, and Lennox, following suit on her little tablet with learning games. Lennox will usually throw a fit about not being able to use mommy's laptop, wanting to do the same learning that King does because, honestly, she probably could she's that smart. King's attitude toward doing it ebbs and flows, sometimes exciting and other times dreading it wanting to keep playing dinosaurs with dad, jumping on the trampoline or something train or cars related.
Bath time can be a bit chaotic with Birdie wanting to join or getting her nightly "zoomies" where she gets super hyper and runs wild nipping at everything and everyone -- but we manage. Afterward, it's cozy corner story time where we huddle in the corner seat of the couch and read a few books. This has become a staple of the nighttime routine and, honestly, one of my favorite times to share with the kids. Then, the kiddos are off to bed after a bit of snuggle persuasion.
After the kids are in dreamland, sometimes quick other times not so much, it's reading time, snuggle time, or TV time with my honey boo thing, Kyle. We usually start nodding off around 9-10 pm, which then results in one of us starting the bedtime routine, prompting the other to follow suit. That’s how we roll because, you know, we do everything together! AND KYLE LOVES IT, right hon? Kyle? LOL
